-- Qulleq --  The old school B 57 Kangaatsiaq date. 22.october 2004 The old school were used for the first time in the year 1937, there were of course teaching facility from monday to saturday, besides in the fifties, there was an union which used the old school as meeting place. I can remeber it from my childhood, there was a meeting whic they called it "Timikkoorneq" ( Throug the body ), the youths and the eldery was in these meetings. They had a purpose to discuss the way of daily living. Christian Jeremiassen From Kangaatsiaq After 21. April 1999, municipal council meeting, they have decided to use the old shcool as a workshop. Under this you can see the original drawing of the old shcool, You can only see it with the greenlandic language.     Today Qulleq looks like that July 2005.

-- Seal skin -- Greenland can be very cold at the winter, the important thing was to keep warm with seal skin, and it was also one of the important equipments. When the economy were introduced to Greenland, the seal skin were the first important to sell. int the year 1720. The royal family decided to sell Seal skin to foriegn countries. -- Arctic Dog Sledge Race --   Seal skin clothes and shooting sled were made of: Anthonethe (Najaaraq) Olsen Born: 15. August 1927 Deceased: 20. Januar 2004 Abel Olsen Born: 07. April 1932 Deceased: 05. Februar 1990 All of the equipments was givin from thier children to Qimuuseq 83 in the year of 2004   Read the events during last years events [Arctic Dog Sledge Race 2003][Arctic Dog Sledge Race 2004] Arctic Dog Sledge Race´s purpose is to drive dogslegde - and the dogslegde culture can live on, therefore they make arrangements like dogsledge compitition, so the dogsledge culture can live on. Dogsledge is not only used to hunting, they also use it to competition, and the main course is to attract tourism. When it was legal to hunt rendeers at winter in Kangaatsiaq. in a period February to March they had a uppotunity to hunt rendeers with dogsledge. Therefore they had established an union in the winter 1982 to hunt them. The union Qimusseq 83 in the year 1982, after the hunting rendeers, and after that they established Qimusseq 83, and it always has followed the development of Kangaatsiaq. After several years partnership with Qimusseq 83, they arranged and started Arctic Dogsledge Race. Qimusseq 83 purpose is to develop seal skin clothes and of course fashion.

-- Fortune charm from kayak  --   The structure of the three: they used ginger three to made it. Length 8 cm. Its design is like seal and the head is designed as narwhal and its nose. the tail fin can be compared to narwhale´s tail fin. History: When I was 16 years old, my grandmother gave it to me, she made me to put it to my new kayak, from my fathers old kayak. I put it in the near end of my kayak and of course inside of the kayak. My grandmother said, it has been more than one generation, ever since 1700, today it is reached to 2004. -- Exstraordinary knife -- Great hunter: Abraham Inûsugtoq born in 14.November 1923. When he was young, he used this knife to hunt rendeers by running after them with own legs, when the rendeer is tired, he used this knife to kill the animal. He got it from his cousin, when you look it closer, you can see bitemarks, you also can see it was not used one time. 26 November 2004 Kangaatsiaq Kommune has inherited this knife.
