3-days kayak tours
Period: June - September
Day 1. The tour begins from
Kangaatsiaq to the exsettlement - Qeqertarsuatsiaq, which lies north
for the town and you row between many small islands. The hunters and
the fishers outfit their dogs in some of these islands in the
summer period. In the other islands you can find many bird nests of
different seabirds. Before arriving to the place to stay overnight,
you can angle for cod to the dinner in a little sound, named
Qipingasoq. Thereafter you come to the exsettlement,
Qeqertarsuatsiaq, which population were leaving in the beginning of
1970's. You have rowed at all 17 km´s. After dinner you can go
around the settlement and you can see, that the population has lived
of hunting only. From the top the hill you can view Disko on north
and view a panorama against the Nordre Stromfiord in south, and
especially against the wide sea on west - the Davis Straight. Stay
overnight in tent or in one of the uninhabited cabins in the
exsettlement.

Day 2. After breakfast the tour
goes on against south to the nearly islands. The first island you
come to is named Aappilattuaraq, and there has the sea terns their
nests. They lay eggs in June-July months. The distance is about 5
kms. When the local weather is good you can row via north of the
island, but if there are too big waves in the seaside, you can row
via east of the island. Thereafter you will come to the island -
Aappilattoq. You found old ruins, which tells you, that the
population has been big hunters. From the top the hill, 45 meter
high from sea, you have all-round view, to south, north, east and
west. You stay overnight there. To the dinner you can cook as you
like the fish catched the day before.

Day 3. When you go on rowing
from Aappilattoq in the last day of the adventure, you can on your
way see seals, whales and another salt-water deers, and without
stopping on your way, you arrive the island Qamusivik (sledge place).
The hunters places their dogs on this island, when they are hunting
at the sea. There from you can go on rowing in waves from the Davis
Straight and back to Kangaatsiaq. There ends the adventure.
